When hurricanes Helene and Milton hit Florida last year, SeaHorse Beach Resort faced devastating impacts—pool decking and landscaping were washed away, first-floor units flooded and the electrical system was heavily damaged. But the Longboat Key resort has made a quick comeback, and now, as the first anniversary of these storms approaches, they’ve even taken the opportunity to make improvements to units and amenities.

As we continue to rebound from the hurricanes, we are revisiting all of our business practices, policies, and rental terms and conditions. Similar to the many property improvements we have made and are continuing to make, we are upgrading our business side of the resort. The new terms and conditions will provide guests with clear direction on what to expect during their visit while protecting the resort from those few difficult guests. The changes will help the Sea Horse team focus on providing excellent service to our guests.

Back to Top >>Happy New Year everyone! We are looking forward to another great year and the chance to share the beauty of Longboat Key with our guests. Please be patient as we continue with our restoration projects — by the end of the month all units should be open. Once those are complete, we can focus full-time on fully restoring the grounds and landscaping. We have some big improvements planned for the resort, and we look forward to sharing them with you over the course of 2025. Stay tuned!
Back to Top >>Welcome to the re-launch of our newsletter, “The Sea Horse. ”We are aiming for this post-hurricane version to be even better than the original. While we are still working on restorations, we have the same aim for the resort – better than before. As we approach the holidays, we want to thank our guests, staff, and vendors for their support in our restoration.
The staff and ownership of the Sea Horse Beach Resort want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! We continue to be surprised by the support given to us by our guests and vendors. Thank you! We are doing our best to open up units as quickly and safely as possible. We hope to open our pool soon. We built a temporary paver deck on the beach side of the pool, set up temporary fencing, and replaced the pumps and lines. A new heater should be installed right after Christmas. Once our new handrail arrives (due any day), we will finally be able to open our pool. It will be a while until we’ve fully restored the pool deck, patios, and walkway, but we will continue our efforts until we bring the Sea Horse back to standards better than before the hurricanes.
Back to Top >>Happy May! This year continues to be a busy one for the Sea Horse team. As you may have noticed, we have made significant upgrades to the street side of the building landscaping. We’ve also remodeled the upstairs guest laundry and made other improvements to the building. We’ve also begun our planned re-landscaping of the beach side of the building, which will include new plants, improved shower stations, and modernized grilling facilities among other things. Other major investments have been made to replace the pool heating system and parts of the air conditioning system — over the past 3 years, we have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to upgrade the resort, and we are far from finished. More news to come regarding other changes at the resort …

This year has really gotten off to a fast start, and the Sea Horse team has been busy keeping up with the steady flow of guests, improving processes to provide better guest services, and sprucing up the resort. So far this year, we’ve cleaned up the street side landscaping, painted all of the patios and decks, and remodeled the upstairs guest laundry among other things. We have many more updates planned for the remainder of the year. We hope you will come check out the changes soon.
Back to Top >>Happy 2024 Everyone! Okay, we may be getting a bit of a late start on our good wishes for the new year, but we’re really looking forward to what the new year will bring. We’ve gotten off to a busy start. Since our last posting, we have added several new employees and have the whole team focused on guest relations.. We also have completed major building refurbishments and are about finished with refreshing the front landscaping. We also have had a number of units complete full renovations and several others have had major upgrades. We have many more plans for the coming year. We hope to see you soon..

Back to Top >>We hope everyone is having a great summer. It certainly has been a busy one for the Sea Horse, bringing lots of new guests and some challenges, too. As we have reflected on this time, we identified a need to focus more on guest services. As a result, we are revisiting our lobby operations, updating some policies/practices, and restructuring our team.
In terms of the team, we are adjusting roles to put a greater emphasis on guest services. When Santa returns from maternity, she will be focused on guest and employee relations. Much of the day-to-day administrative work will be offloaded or automated. To support Santa, Ingrid will lead Housekeeping to ensure units are in top shape for guest arrivals. In addition, Dalia will lead Maintenance in either handling issues or ensuring vendors provide prompt and minimally disruptive service.
The first of the policy changes is regarding payments. Going forward, all new reservations will require a 25% deposit and payment in full 30-days-prior to arrival. In addition, a refundable security deposit will be charged, which will be refunded shortly after guest departure, provided no damages, fines, or fees stem from the visit. We also plan to offer guest travel insurance should unforeseen circumstances alter plans.
These changes will allow our team to focus on guest services rather than payment administration and follow-up and are consistent with industry practice More info to come on the restructuring, policy/practice changes, and lobby operations.

Back to Top >>Our hearts go out to the residents and guests of Southwest Florida devastated by Hurricane Ian. Fortunately for the Longboat Key area, and the Sea Horse specifically, we were minimally impacted by the storm. Thanks to our fantastic staff, we were up and running within days of Ian’s passing. We have limited availability now through 2023 for those whom may have had reservations impacted by the storm.
